Softball Sweeps Day Two in Myrtle Beach

 

The softball team (3-1) swept day two in Myrtle Beach with a 7-3 victory over Potomac State (3-1), followed by an 7-0 shutout over Bowie State (5-8). The Vikings got revenge over Potomac State after falling to that team Sunday afternoon and won their first meeting against Bowie State.

Kate Cahrenger (Waterford Halfmoon/Waterford) had another great outing on the mound recording nine strikeouts against Potomac State. Natalie Triano (Colonie/Albany) led the team going 3-4 with a double and triple with three RBIs. Kate Brown (Colonie/Colonie) and Lori Pelersi (Bethlehem/Albany) each contributed two hits for the Vikings. Meg Mulholland (Lansingburgh/Lansingburgh) called a great game from behind the plate.

Game two against Bowie State turned into a slugfest for the Vikings. Molly McDonough (Lansingburgh/Lansingburgh), Meghan Matan (Shaker/Latham), Stephanie Frederick (Greenville/Greenville) and Kate Brown each went yard in the win. Triano continued her hot streak at the plate going 2-4 with three RBIs. Cherish Kilventon (Cohoes/Cohoes) recorded her first collegiate win with a complete-game shutout.

The team’s next games are today at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. The Vikings will play Wells College in game one and then finish up the day with Grace College.
